Impact Oasis and the New Years Day Polar Plunge

We will do ANYTHING to advocate for our children! People with autism are so special and so unique that we have made it our life’s work to be around them and to share that, little known fact with others.  Autistic individuals are so misunderstood because they face huge language and social barriers. When you get to know them; their intelligence, honesty and bravery are just refreshing.

Our mission is to create small local farm centers for autistic adults to live and work on. At our first program at the OASIS Farms Transitional Residential/Adult Independent Learning (TRAIL) Center, we are offering continuing education in language comprehension and usage, basic math skills, social and independent living skills. Vocations are based in agriculture, the arts and the environment. We have regular volunteers from local high schools who come in as “friends” and are peer mentors to our students. Resident and day students alike can take part in a long day of planned events designed to engage them in life.

OASIS means Ongoing Autistic Success In Society. Impact OASIS is a non-profit organization. This farmstead program is located on the old Coe estate in Middletown and was acquired through a partnership of Impact OASIS, Middletown Township, the Monmouth Conservation Foundation and the NY/NJ Baykeeper.

We host a formal tea service every two weeks to teach food service and preparation, and also to invite the public to have a chance to see this magnificent historic home and to see how GREAT these kids are!

OASIS Farms is an absolutely beautiful setting, and it is our hope that the community will learn that all human beings have more similarities than differences. It is on this common ground that we should support and love one another. That is why I (Mai Cleary) and Neil Petrocelli jumped in the ocean on New Years Day. Thank you so much to Matt McGovern and the Sons of Ireland for asking OASIS to be part of this!

For more information about Impact OASIS or ways to donate time, supplies and monetary gifts, or if you would like information about our program, fundraising events and social graces tea service, please contact us through our web-site www.ImpactOasis.org.

When IMPACT-OASiS supporters say they will do ANYTHING.....they mean it....a big-hearted, focused group of individuals and families
out to support a cause near and dear to so many.....! I am sure as they hit the cold water it turned warm with love, hope and enthusiasm for this cause.
