Bobcat Burns on Bertha Road
The Middletown Township Fire Dept. put out the flames coming from a small piece of machinery and addressed a small fuel spill.
A Bobcat compact construction machine caught fire Tuesday afternoon on Bertha Road, off Harmony Road, in Middletown. Nobody was hurt in the fire.
The Old Village Fire Company responded to the call around 2 p.m. and put the fire out. Nearby, Avery Tree Experts were doing work on a residential property.
According to Middletown Fire Dept. spokesman John Isaksen, the firefighters also contained a small amount of hydraulic fluid from melted hoses with an earthen dike. Per policy, they notificed the state Dept. of Environmental Protection and informed the vehicle's owner they would be responsible for clean-up and remediation.
