Doggie Daycare and Resort to Open in Middletown

K-9 Resorts Daycare and Luxury Hotel will open at 889 Route 35 in Middletown offering a luxury resort stay for dogs.

A new resort will soon be opening on Route 35 but this one is for the dogs.

K-9 Resorts Daycare and Luxury Hotel will open its doors later this year offering cage-free spaces and a clean environment equipped with flooring systems with Microban built in and an air purification system that includes a specially designed ventilation system to kill airborne bacteria.

The K-9 Resorts franchise will open in Middletown at 889 Route 35 between the 7-11 and the old R&S Strauss, right across from Borough Hall under the ownership of Dan Cody.

Dan and his wife, Lisa, have been in the business of rescuing animals but never in the doggie resort business.

The Lodi, N.J. couple has fostered and adopted multiple pets for the past 20 years and looks to bring their care for animals into a resort and daycare setting.

This daycare and resort is “unlike others in the area,” Dan Cody said.

“K-9 Resorts is a luxury hotel,” Cody said.

Owners looking to pamper their pooch can choose between a 9’ x 9’ of cage free space with in-suite television entertainment tuned to Animal Planet, a “sensitive stomach” Eukanuba house diet, outdoor window view and a luxury dog bed.

Another option for pet owners is a 5’x7’ cage-free enclosure with luxury dog bedding and a “sensitive stomach” Eukanuba house diet.

Owners looking for more conventional accommodations can choose traditional cage boarding.

All stays include options for all day group play in divided rooms private outdoor walks and personal play times, according to the K-9 Resort’s website.

Dogs staying more than two days must opt into a bath option, which costs about $29.

Dogs enrolled in doggie daycare can spend the day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. which ranges in price from $19 to $32 per day, according to the K-9 Resort’s website.

Dogs must pass a daycare evaluation. There is a one-time $32 fee for the daycare evaluation before the dog can be admitted, according to their website.

Reservations must be made in advance for both the resort and doggie daycare.

Brothers Steve and Jason Parker in Fanwood, N.J. founded K-9 Resorts Daycare & Luxury Resort in 2005.

When in their early teens, their parents denied them a dog of their own, so the entrepreneurial pair opened a professional pet-sitting business to prove they were not only willing but also ready to care for a dog.

The Middletown location would be the second location set to open in the state.

This is a wonderful idea. I hope and pray that the prices for people with dogs whom they love so much , and whom are low income; in my case due to Lymes disease left undiagnosed 20 years ago, for a year and half and have been left with rare neurological problems can bring their dog their for a special rate and receive the same loving care that your new facility looks like it will give to dogs becomes a reality. The only one available is at Thompson Park which for most is a distance to travel. There are soo many dogs like mine that must stay on a lease from the time one walks out of their apartment till the time one is back into their apratment. Our dogs desperately need a place to be able to be off a leash and be able to just run free and play. Thompson park in the past offered breed monthly clubs in their dog park area. The building of an area like this would be such an asset to your business and the community! I'd love to talk to you about your upcoming facility and my suggestion of a dog park like area! You may reach me at 732-495-1177. You may leave a message with your phone # and I'll return your call!! I myself was also never able to have a dog until about 2 years before my Moms passing! I hope to hear from you soon!

I couldn't agree more about this being a great itdea. I had to kennel my lab while in Cape Cod for 2 days and I was very impressed. They were fairly priced and follow the dog's schedule. They also provide a detailed report card, which I thought would be fairly generic, until I read it. They described my dog to a T!
