Middletown High School South (MHSS) competed along side a dozen middle and high schools from multiple states in the Music in the Parks Festival and returned victorious.
The MHSS marching band, concert band, and chorus won several awards at the Music in the Parks music festival held in Hershey, Pennsylvania between May 18 and May 20.
Middletown South Music Director Michael Raguseo reports that the MHSS concert band was ranked superior; the MHSS choir was ranked excellent; and the MHSS marching band was ranked good. The MHSS concert band also won second place overall in the competition. In addition, Middletown South junior John Sheehy won one of two “Outstanding Accompanist” awards given for exemplary piano accompaniment.
“Participating in the Music in the Parks festival was a great experience for everyone,” said Raguseo. “I am very pleased with our results at the Hershey competition and it was fun to combine the event with an outing at Hershey Park as well.”
