Go Orange and Black! You’ll be cheering for your local high school, the Middletown North Lions, if you purchase this four bedroom, three bathroom home. It has hardwood floors, two fireplaces, and a sunroom that leads out to the backyard with an in-ground pool. Offered at $474,000. Kids will go to New Monmouth Elementary and Thorne Middle School.
Go Eagles! High schoolers who live here will attend Middletown South, while the elementary school kiddies will go to New Monmouth Elementary. The siblings in between will be Thompson Middle Schoolers. Listed at $425,000, the home has four bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, and sits on nearly two acres. Outside it has a large in-ground pool with newer liner and multi-level deck, while inside there is a newer main bathroom, and thermal windows.
Newly listed at $225,000, this three bedroom and one bathroom home is located on a dead-end street. The ranch-style has a screened porch, and is priced to sell: according to the realtor, the owner can accommodate a quick closing. That way, the kids won’t miss too many days in their new school, whether it is Ocean Avenue Elementary, Thorne Middle, or Middletown North.
Just down the street from Ocean Avenue Elementary School, this four bedroom and one bathroom listing has a park at the other end of the street. It’s got refinished hardwood floors, new carpets, new light fixtures and ceiling fans, and is freshly painted. Outside there is an oversize garage and open porch. Priced at $209,900. Older kids will probably attend Thorne Middle School, and Middletown High School North.
Located in the Navesink section, this offering has more than two acres, a living room with a view of the grounds, and a kitchen with sliders to a deck outside. Showing at $649,000, this custom-style home has three bedrooms and two bathrooms and a unique open floor plan. Junior will matriculate to Navesink Elementary, older sis will be a Bayshore Middle Schooler, and high school age teens will wear navy blue and silver grey rooting for Middletown South.

It’s Labor Day, and for the second week in a row, there will be few, if any, open houses. Hurricane Irene ruined last week’s opportunities, and next week brings the 10th anniversary of 9/11.

The last time house hunters were afforded the opportunity to tour properties for sale was Aug. 21; and it looks like they will be waiting a month until Sept. 18 to hunt again.

This week House Hunt decided to look for newly listed properties in our area, with an eye towards the coming school year. In the caption under each picture, you’ll not only find the details about the homes, but also which public schools the kids will attend, according to our source Realtor.com.

It won’t take lots of ‘rithmetic to see the starting prices for these homes that were just put on the market. And since none are open for tours this Sunday, there’s no risk of being tardy.

Just put on your thinking caps and do your homework before the next chance for open houses in mid-September. It will be here before you know it — just like this new school year.
