Islamic Society Seeks Parking Lot Expansion, Community Center
The public hearing on the application is slated for 6:30 tonight at Middletown Township Town Hall
A public hearing is scheduled in Middletown tonight on an application the Islamic Society of Monmouth County has submitted to the Planning Board for a parking lot expansion and community center construction on its Red Hill Road property, bordering Holmdel.
The society has purchased property at 502 Red Hill Road, abutting its existing site at 496.
The owners are seeking a conditional use permit as well as a preliminary and final major site plan approval to build a 19,961-square-foot plaza with a two-story, 5,300-square-foot community center on the site, according to Planning Board records.
The plans also call for a 106-stall expansion to the existing parking lot. There are also plans for assorted site improvements, such as lighting, landscaping, stormwater basins and a 50-foot wide residential buffer.
The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the Middletown Township Town Hall meeting room, 1 Kings Highway.
The application is last on the full meeting agenda, so there is a possibility that the hearing will be carried to another date.
Plans are available for view at the planning offices in the Johnson Gill Annex at the township complex at Kings Highway.
