Kyrillos Not Worried About Trailing in Polls
A Monmouth University poll has the state senator trailing U.S. Senator Bob Menendez by 15 points.
State Senator Joe Kyrillos (R-13), now a candidate for U.S. Senate, visited the Marlboro Blues and BBQ festival on Sept. 29 and said he isn't worried about trailing in recent polls.
Kyrillos is up against incumbent Bob Menendez, who in a recent Monmouth University poll is leading the race by 9 to 15 points. According to the poll, Menendez has picked up support from independent voters in the last two months.
"The polls, some are good, some are not good but I don't pay a lot of attention to them because they can change so quickly and so much. The big poll is on election day," Kyrillos said.
New Jersey is historically a Democratic state, but Kyrillos said he believes residents around the state are willing to vote by name rather than party.
"[New Jersey] leans Democratic, but the people I meet just want to get the right thing done. They are willing to vote for a Republican, Democrat, Independents... they just want to get things accomplished."
According to staff members, the state senator is following a heavy campaign schedule, and the Blues and BBQ Festival was his eighth event that day.
"I'm working hard, I'm moving all around the state and we are trying to make things better New Jersey and America, that's why I'm running for U.S. Senate," Kyrillos said. "I want to have Washington match the spirit and the greatness of the people."

Dumb commercial from his wife, ya know the one that Kyrillos is different than the usual Republican. He 's a great father to his kids, Max and Georgia. Does that mean that other Republicans or even Democrats are not great fathers?

GJC: Kyrillos' commercial is better than do-nothing Menendez's diner video. Menendez is a millionaire, but he's hanging out in a diner. I heard he's selling the Bayone Bridge too!

I wouldn't vote for a Republican or a conservative or a Tea Bagger) if my life depended on it. They do not represent my interests. Diners have some of the best food around. Shows me that Menendez is not an elitist and he remembers his roots.

GLC: You missed my point. Menendez is a fake. Why do you want to vote in the guy that helped inflict harm on the U.S. via "Obamacare"?

I didn't miss your point; I addressed it. Sen. Menendez has not turned his back on his roots. He remembers his old neighborhood which I'm positive included diners. If you think that makes him a phoney then you are the one with a problem. I also had no problem with the Kyrillos ad other then to point out that his wife took pains to say that her husband was unlike other Republicans. I pointed out the folly of that statement because it implied that other Republicans don't care for their kids.

If you remember Menendez was originally appointed to his position my Jon Corzine our booted Governor as pay back. This underserving waste and political boss of Hudson County has to be removed. It's time the voters in this state wake up and do the right thing.

You are entitled to your opinion and a single vote. The last time I looked being appointed to a position wasn't a crime. I happen to like Sen. Menendez.

I don't have to explain my feelings or my vote to you or anyone else. That's what a private ballot is all about. I've aalso seen how you try to harass people on this site so I won't be answering you any time soon.

john - impossible to answer because Menendez has never sponsored one bill that helps NJ. GJC uses the typical liberal reply "I don't have to explain my vote" because there is no rationale for supporting one of the worst Senators to ever represent this state, second only to Franky Louse-enburg.
Menedez and all the Democrats supporting him are must be satisfied with $5.6 Trillion in new debt; 8.3% unemployment, $3.90/gal gasoline, enemic economic growth driving us towards another recession, 46 million people on food stamps, not to mention the single largest disaster - Obamacare.

Oh and conservatives never say "I don't have to explain my vote?" The First Amendment guarantees one's right to free speech or no speech if that is what one chooses. Ever stop to think that I don't want to have to deal with personal attacks?

I don't care how corrupt New Jersey politics is, it is rare that Republicans have any chance of winning anything here. Christie excepted. Politically speaking, It's a loser state.

I have wrote Sen. Menendez two or three times about jobs and he responded every time. He also supported bills to save jobs. Just my opinion but if Romney and his crew get in you will see more unemployment! Right now they are trying to kill the Post office ( the only government origination that does not get any money from the government.) When it is gone will UPS and FedEx charge more, will the banks charge for online banking ? you will have another million or more people unemployed!

Romney will increase unemployment? Are you kidding me? We gave thObama a blank check to reduce unemployment and what did he give us - the longest stretch of unemployment over 8% in our country's history and a mountain of debt that will be impossible to pay off.
When will the liberals understand no government in the history of civilization has ever spent its way into properity, governments do not create wealth, they take it. The only way to improve everybody's standing is to encourage business to expand, thus creating jobs, and more revenue. Creating oppresive taxes will stifle business, prevent growth, which in turn will drag down the entire economy.
Obama's extensive experience as a "Community Organizer" shows he has been ill-equipped to handle the job from day one. Let's give the the person with solid business experience with proven results a chance. Ask some of the 90,000 employees of Staples, or the Sports Authority, or the Weather Channel - some of businesses Mitt Romney helped create or turn around when they were in financial trouble.....just sayin'

john D.: My original question was for you to name something the Menendez did out of the 207 or so bills associated with his name that created jobs and lowered taxes in New Jersey.
Enlighten me...

Better still - how many of the 207 have been passed, and weren't just posturing, or his "jumping on an already moving train??". I'm dealing with that kind of record from my opponent/incumbent in my district. He runs the plays the lobbyists call, and hopes nobody really "thinks" before this election. His "D" opponent is a "fill-in", looking for "appointment" instead of election.
Will ANY of the incumbents OR candidates sign the "Change the Rules Pledge"? JJ, have you looked it over? I think you will be pleasantly surprised that thwarting corruption can be done directly in both the House and Senate, WITHOUT any interference from the Executive or Judiciary, under Separation of Powers.
Removing special interest monies is the first step to controlling costs...well, actually, the second. The first would be PRODUCING A BUDGET. How many days have we done without one??

Menendez started his political career in Union City, winning a seat on the school board at 19. He turned out to be the state's witness in the trial that put his former boss and mentor, William Musto in prison. Musto maintained his innocence until his death in February 2006, and Menendez later served as mayor. He ran against Musto during the very same extortion trial, and lost in 1982 even though Musto was cnvicted. Menendez is a skunk and a rat that will do or say anything to gain public power. He is what is wrong with our political elites. Wake up NJ, rats are not welcome!!!

What bothers me about Menendez that his father escaped the castro regime for freedom into the USA, and the son became a radical liberal despite what Castro
had done to Cuba. He is now a traitor fostering the demise of this nation of freedom his party seeks to destroy thru Obama's Castro-like plans
his father came to and now the senator becomes himself a filthy rich democrat.

Don Gottwerth -- EXCELLENT POINTS! Menendez is no friend of the U.S. Constitution -- he is surely AGAINST tax payers!
For example, ANYONE who voted for Obamacare, like Menendez must be voted out. Obamacare is expected to RAISE TAXES on working Americans by THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS!
* Less than $9,500 income = $0
* $9,500 - $37,000 income = $695
* $50,000 income = $1,000
* $75,000 income = $1,600
* $100,000 income = $2,250
* $125,000 income = $2,900
* $150,000 income = $3,500
* $175,000 income = $4,100
* $200,000 income = $4,700
* Over $200,000 = The cost of a "bronze" health-insurance plan

VP Joe Biden knows they have failed.
How they can justify raising taxes on the middle class that's been buried in the last four years," Biden, addressing supporters in North Carolina, said in reference to the period he and Obama have been leading the nation.
Hey Joe - how did the stimulus help the middle class? How does Obamacare help the middle class? How does borrowing $7 trillion in 4 years help the middle class?
What exactly is Bob Menendez doing for the middle class? I'd like to know. Is he voting to not spend money we don't have? Is he voting to reduce our health insurance costs? Is he voting to create jobs for private sector workers in NJ? How does Bob M help NJ?? Please enlighten me.

Kyrillos abandoned his District 13 constituents by not even making a comment to support Union Beach in its fight to prevent a 38-story noisy industrial wind turbine with blades each the size of a cell tower from being erected way too close to a lot of homes. It would further degrade home values in our working class town, along with a host of other problems. Hazlet, Matawan, Holmdel, Keyport, Union Beach and Monmouth County (all within his district) also passed resolutions opposing the turbine. But still Kyrillos refused to weigh in, even after he granted a meeting to a few locals looking for his help. Recently, he was the only Republican sponsor on a bill that would have allowed wind turbines up to 500' tall on preserved farm land in two southern NJ counties. Kyrillos is not what he claims. He's a wheeling-and-dealing back door politician with no loyalty to the people he's supposed to represent. I'm a Republican, and will gladly vote for a write-in candidate as Kyrillos is deliberately throwing his Union Beach area constituents under the bus.

Re; Bill Heller,
I agree with you on all points save for writing in a candidate.
However, if voters felt the way you do, Kyrillos would walk right in.
Writing in a candidate throws your vote away and insures that there is a chance for Kyrillos. Years ago when NJ first envisioned a Master Plan for channeling growth to areas that had the infrastructure to support it and controlling development in environmentally sensitive areas (the State Development & Redevelopment Plan) Kyrillos was in the opposition forefront. More recently he championed (along with former Senator Tom Gagliano) privatizing Sandy Hook's Fort Hancock for a for-profit a commercial developer. Thankfully, after much public opposition, many protests and the efforts of Judith Stanley Coleman and her husband Judge Coleman this fiasco to rob the public of public property was defeated. I am not a fan of Menendez but as far as your issues in Union Beach and other statewide and federal environmental policies are concerned by throwing your vote away by writing in an impossibility.... you are ensuring the possible election of Kyrillos. At least Menendez appears to stand firm on environmental concerns, public health and property rights.
