The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has allocated $4 million in funds to reimburse the towns for debris removal following Hurricane Sandy in a second round of funding. 

In a statement, Congressman Frank Pallone (NJ-6) said “The resources of our municipalities are stretched thin after Hurricane Sandy,” said Pallone.  “This FEMA funding will pay for a significant portion of the extra expenses incurred by the town as they responded to the storm and made sure their residents and roadways were safe.”

At a workshop meeting tonight, Middletown Township's governing body will consider a resolution to borrow $10 million in special emergency appropriations to cover the cost of extraordinary expenses, which includes the unexpected costs related to paying personnel for the repair, reconstruction of streets, roads or bridges or other public property damaged by Hurricane Sandy. The meeting begins at 8 p.m. at Town Hall.
