In another case, a Middletown man is arrested for allegedly obstructing an investigation.
Vivian Tortoriello, 63, of Beers Street in in Keyport was arrested in Sears Thursday by Middletown Ptl. Daniel Benbrook on a charge of allegedly trying to conceal $847.94 of perfume, watches, and a toaster at Sears in an effort to shoplift the goods. She was being held Friday on $2,500 bail, set by Superior Court Judge Richard Thompson.
Daniel Wahler, 27, of Locust Terrace in Middletown was arrested on Jan. 30 for allegedly obstructing an investigation of a crime. According to a complaint signed by Ptl. Brian McGrogan, Wahler is alleged to have ignored numerous requests to leave the scene, and made attempts to distract the officer's attention. He was released on $2,500 bail, no 10 percent option, set by Judge Richard Thompson.
An arrest is not a conviction, and the people charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
