This is at least the 3rd person that i know have that has been hit and killed in that spot. How many more lives is it going to take before they finally put up a left turn signal and for people to learn how to drive safely!!!

I agree with you. My parents have lived down here for 25 years now and we never heard of so many people being hit, crashing or killed just in this small area. IT needs to be revamped and better regulated. Prayers for that poor women and her family.

Not sure what happened in this event, but I can tell you that as a commuter who has to cross the highway Mon-Fri, you take your life in your hands by crossing this road. I also see people cross against the light so maybe that was the case here but drivers are way to impatient and inconsiderate to those who have to cross the highway.

It is about time that these crossings go 4 way red to allow a head start for walkers to cross. Drivers just don't show courtsey to pedestrians on that road especially when turning on to 36 from the side roads.

J Bas - if you press the button on the pole light, a pedestrian will get a head start to cross at the light. I believe it's 20 seconds but many people just ignore this "courtesy" to pedestrians and make their turns anyway. Again, I also see people cross against the light and that's just crazy. Commuters do it every day. I know we all want to get home but to risk your life for 30-45 seconds is just stupid.

Middletown needs to invest in lamp posts!!! These streets are so damn dark you can't see anyone crossing!!! Sad for all involved

Then you will complain that people are hitting the post. The post should not be there less people would die.

As a bus driver pedestrians should be aware that during the morning rush hour the sun glare on route 36 coming from the east is very bad, some mornings almost blinding. I know this accident occured at night but I just wanted to put that out there to all the commuters crossing the highway to catch the bus.

My heart goes out to the poor girl that was killed in this accident, but,as a long time driver of this neighborhood I have to say that it is not always the drivers fault..Its hard enough trying to watch what other drivers are doing,we also have to watch for pedestrians darting in and out of traffic..Not all but some peds try and beat the light and the cars and just running in and out of traffic..This is super dangerous, especially at this intersection when you have people making left turns..I'm just saying that EVERYONE must watch and pay attention to what is going on around them.
