Fatal Accident Report in Bank Parking Lot Released by Middletown Police

On Oct. 1, Janet Ramos Morales died in the Bank of America parking lot on Route 35 South.

Middletown Police have released a report that gives more information about how a 27-year old Red Bank woman was killed in the Middletown Bank of America parking lot, at Route 35 and Navesink River Road, on Oct. 1, 2012.

According to the investigation report, Janet Ramos Morales of Herbert Street, an unlicensed driver, was operating a 2002 Ford Explorer SUV when she pulled into the parking lot from the Route 35 South entrance.

In attempting to make a left hand turn into an angled parking stall in the rear, police believe she was driving too fast and wound up side-swiping the passenger side of an unoccupied Toyota Tundra pick-up, and vaulting over the curb.

Her husband Angel Rojas Faustino, 34, was a passenger in the Ford Explorer, as was their 3-year old child. After she exited the vehicle he, a driver with a Maryland driver's license, backed the SUV out. In doing so, the right rear end of the SUV hit Ramos Morales in the parking lot.

Ramos Morales was treated at the scene by MONOC paramedics and the Leonardo First Aid Squad. She was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 2:24 p.m.

The SUV, registered to a Long Branch owner not at the scene, was impounded.

A toxicology test was given to Faustino, and the investigation is continuing, according to the report. No charges have yet been filed.

That's a pretty confusing report. Does the Maryland driver have a name? Was the car the victim hit the same car that hit her? Was someone in a hurry to leave the scene? Very confusing.

It is not confusing. The male was the passanger. The wife was driving with no license. After she hit a parked car - she got out and he got in the driver seat. When he backed up she was not in the car yet and he ran over his own wife!

Could the patch do some investigative reporting and show us the final police report from the horrible accident on van shoick where a man and his son were killed and his daughter hurt. I have been driving that route for over 50 years and such a horrible accident there never really made sense to me and the details were never released.

OK..So the victim was driving without a license..got out of the car AFTER hitting someone else and then her husband got IN the drivers side(most likely so she would not get any charges for un licensed driving)and then hit and killed his wife..That is a crazy happening..She should have stayed in the car and took her lumps from the cops..SMH

This may sound bias and racist and it is not meant to be but clear fact. What's most confusing is how and why so many people in the area have cars registered in Virginia or Maryland and work in the area at gas stations, restaurants and convenience stores. Asbury park press employees delivery personnel with vehicles out of state. They certainly are not driving to NJ each day to work! Pay the insurance rates we do and reg fees and if you drive, get a license. So sorry for the woman!

The reason so many people have cars registered in Virginia or Maryland and often Michigan and Illinois is because they are owned by undocumented people. Those states have less stringent laws as who can register a vehicle and/or their proof of residency. I am familiar with some people who need to do this. Some of them here for 20+ years, paying taxes but they cannot register their car in NJ. We sometimes go the the Iron Bound section of Newark (wonderful food) and from the license plates parked on the street you would not believe you were in New Jersey ;) Check it out next time you see a car from one of those states.

I agree with ResidentM & FormerMR..There are so many people driving under other states here,North Carolina is another popular one..I think its because the registration and insurance are so expensive in NJ..It's very irritating to see this..If you live here, you need to pay up like the rest of us here in NJ!! If you're illegal then you really should not be driving or living here in the first place!!Please understand, I'm not making any accusations to the lady that was killed,I'm just stating a fact regarding the above statements.

As the previous poster noted the reason for this is because they are undocumented people. They can obtain licenses in washington state, new mexico, and other states without having a social security number. If they want to own their own vehicle they will also register it there. Otherwise they can find someone local that will buy the vehicle and they rent it from that person for however long. It is not because they are trying to save money.

Maryland no longer gives out D.L. Without doc's required as N.J. Hope Other States Follow The Same Route.
