It’s no longer just your commuter ferry service out of Belford.

That’s what NY Waterway, the operator out of the Belford Ferry Terminal, wants people to know about its new, expanded service.

In response to customer feedback, the ferry operator is now going to start offering weekday service directly to midtown New York as part of its new program dubbed Your Key to the City. The program offers one-stop leisure trip shopping via NY Waterway.

“The customers’ feedback has been that they want to be able to get to mid-town for work or for leisure, so we’re rolling out this new program,” NY Waterway Spokesman Pat Smith said. “Starting Monday, this will be made very easy for people. It’s a one-stop shopping experience. You’ll be able to go online to get your ferry tickets, Broadway show tickets … everything you need. Then all you have to do is go to the Belford terminal where a real live human will be there to help you make travel and entertainment decisions from that point on.”

The ferry will take riders on a one-hour trip that first stops at lower Manhattan, which takes 40 to 50 minutes, and then 39^th Street (another 10 minutes). Once at 39^th Street, ferry customers can catch a free bus, which meets every Waterway ferry. The bus will take them to any of four mid-town destinations.

“One goes across 42^nd Street, another goes across 34^th, and two others go across 50^th and 57^th streets,” Smith said. “We’re doing this for the leisure travel benefit it presents to people.” And, he added, children 12 and under ride for free.

 “If you’re a family making a special visit, all children under 12 ride free, or a commuter who wants to get to midtown, this Belford route improvement combined with the Your Key to the City makes it easier,” NY Waterway Executive Vice President Arthur E. Imperatore Jr. said. “We unlock the mystery of the Big Apple and provide a seamless, hassle-free entertainment experience.”

Ferries leave the Belford terminal at 6:30, 7:30, 8, 8:40 and 9:30 a.m. Return trips leave New York at 2:30, 3:15, 4, 5:35 and 6:45 p.m.
