Police: Middletown Woman Hit Officer With Car, Bit Another
Valerie A. Paternostro faces aggravated assault charges.
A Middletown woman is accused of hitting one police officer with her car and biting another.
Middletown Township police were called to respond to an incident at Valerie A. Paternostro’s Harmony Avenue home, according to court documents.
When Paternostro, 47, was advised that she was being placed under arrest, she allegedly attempted to leave in her Mazda Miata. She is accused of striking Sgt. Paul Bailey with the car and fleeing the scene, according to the arrest warrant. Paternostro is also accused of biting Patrolman Adam Colfer during the course of the investigation.
Paternostro has been charged with aggravated assault, hindering, and weapons possession for allegedly using her car to assault Bailey.
Paternostro was remanded to Monmouth County Correctional Institution with bail set at $77,000. She has the option to post 10 percent cash bond.
