I had a hard time deciding between Bistro and Teak. Their sushi is so fresh. Some of the fish has the consistency and taste of a rich butter. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. In the end I went with the Bistro since it's BYO and I'm cheap. Now I just need to try Sansu...

Sogo Sushi - absolute favorite. Brown rice Sushi, BYOB. Their Orchid roll (no rice) is unbeatable AND you can order soy bean paper in place of seaweed for any roll! Two thumbs up!! : )

The Sawa in Eatontown and Long Branch are two different restaurants. I will never return to the aural nightmare of the Eatontown location, but I enjoy the Long Branch location very much.

aural nightmare? Yikes. I had a good time at the LB Sawa for my sister's bachelorette party. It's like dinner and a show.

Izu has to be my favorite hidden gem. But, Sono is a close second. Oh, and then there's Bistro and Kanji ... So much sushi, so little time ...

Anyone who hasn't been to Izu in Long Branch should go. Right now. Such a hole in the wall but so delicious.

I agree. Izu is my favorite, actually. Very nice staff as well.

Teak's Forbidden Black Roll or the Ocean Avenue roll at Yumi with a (big) glass of white wine is my perfect way to end the work week.
