Report: On Sunday, Vice President Joe Biden To Visit Middletown

The Star Ledger reported the White House announced Biden is coming to town, but Middletown's mayor says nobody has informed Middletown.

The White House has announced Vice President Joe Biden will visit Middletown on Sunday, according to a report on NJ.com

Biden will be visiting communities devastated by the storm, the report said. An intinerary was not made available.

But as of 3 p.m. Friday, Mayor Tony Fiore said neither township police nor administration have been informed of Biden's visit.

"I can say that at this point, there is no indication whatsoever Vice President Biden will visit Middletown," said Fiore. "I checked with the police force, and there were not informed of any advance teams of Secret Service. The administration is not aware of any visit."

He added, "Of course, things can change."

On Friday, Fiore and other township government officials met with Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan, as well as U.S. Senators Robert Menendez and Frank Lautenberg at the regional FEMA field office in the Avaya building in Lincroft.

He said he was asked what his concerns were, and he told the visiting officials that information and education is what is needed most. People need answers to what damages their insurance will cover, what FEMA will cover, and what rules pertain to rebuilding, he said. "There are so many unanswered questions," he said.

There are 750 inhabitable houses in Middletown at this moment, the mayor said.

"My fear is that people are doing work on their houses and don't realize FEMA may force them to elevate -- and that all their work will be for nothing," he said.

So for one day, the average IQ in my town will be at an all-time low. Thanks.

You're not that smart..., are you. Not sure what you were trying to say, but I have an idea and it would appear that you fell on your face. haha

Right NJarhead. Let's hope he can contain his laughter as he views the devastation.

If he does show up, he should go right to Union Beach, change his clothes, and get down and dirty with the rest of the locals. I will even offer my respirator, knee pads and one-piece suit so he can crawl under some homes with me.
