The school gives a round of applause to Head Custodian Dan Chaney and his hard-working crew on National Custodian Day.
Did you ever ask yourself who takes care of the school facilities after a long, six-hour day?
At Harmony School in Middletown, keeping the facility safe and clean for students is the responsibility of Head Custodian Dan Chaney and his team, which includes William Harris, William Pankenier and Kathleen Macey.
“Mr. Dan” -- as he is referred to by students -- works extremely hard at keeping Harmony K-5 school up and running every day.
Today, October 2, 2012, students at Harmony school honored Mr. Dan and his crew as they celebrated National Custodian’s Day.
In addition to many student cards, the Harmony PTO bought lunch for the entire custodial crew and the teaching staff offered a gift to each custodian.
The Harmony custodial crew is often overlooked in their significant role in the educational process. Principal Erik Paulson said, “Dan and the crew at Harmony are excellent at keeping our facility safe. They are the worker bees who help ensure we can open our doors every day and maintain a safe learning environment.”
It is not known when National Custodian Day began, but the Harmony School community ensured that Mr. Dan and the crew were recognized for their daily “behind the scenes” efforts.
