The Middletown Township Committee will meet on August 6 at 8 p.m. for their regularly scheduled workshop. The meeting will be held in the main meeting room of the Middletown Township Municipal Building. To see what will be discussed at this meeting, click here.
Mayor Anthony Fiore will hold office hours at Town Hall from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on August 20. No appointments are necessary. Residents are welcome on a first-come, first-served basis to discuss any concerns or issues they may have related to township government. The Middletown Township Board of Education will meet Tuesday, August 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the library at Middletown High School North. An agenda has not yet been released online as of Sunday evening.
Arts and Entertainment
Jobonanno & the Godsons of Soul will perform a rock n’ roll routine during the Sandy Hook Foundation’s weekly Wednesday concert series at Area E in Sandy Hook National Park. The August 1 concert begins at 6 p.m. and admission is free. Beach wheelchairs are also available on a first come first serve basis. Weather cancellations made at 2 p.m. day of the show. The RB Express will perform August 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Croydon Hall as part of Middletown’s Summer Concert series. The Middletown Summer Concert Series is every other Thursday. The concert is free. The Middletown Township Education Association (MTEA) and the Middletown Arts Center sponsor the performances. In the event of inclement weather, concerts are moved indoors to the Croydon Hall Gym. Teen artists, ages 11 through 18, will exhibit artwork that shows the positive side of N.J. in the Community Room during the "Why I Love N.J." Teen Art Reception, Thursday, August 23 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Middletown Township Public Library. This reception, open to all, kicks off the week-long art exhibit on display in the Teen Zone from 8/24-8/31. This event will be planned and implemented by Chloe Brownlie as preparation for her Girl Scout Gold Award.
The Middletown Ramblers Square Dance Club will hold an Introduction to Square Dancing class Friday, August 24 beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Middletown Township Senior Center. Admission is $3 and attendees under 18 are free. Couples and singles are welcome. Refreshments are included in the admission price. No experience is needed, a caller will teach the dance.
Child Safety Seat Checks
Police officers trained as child passenger safety technicians will assist motorists with proper child safety seat installation as well as proper positioning and harnessing of a child on Friday, August 24 from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Police Headquarters, 1 Kings Highway. No appointment is necessary. In the event of severe weather, rain dates will be announced. Checkpoints are free and open to the public. The program is funded through a grant from the state Division of Highway Traffic Safety. State law requires that all children below the age of 8 years or less than 80 lbs. in weight must be seated in a child restraint system.
