"Decent bagels but the staff and owner are completely miserable. Not a shred of personality in this place and they DO NOT make you feel welcome. You sell an experience which keeps a customer coming back and this place sells rudeness. Not going back and I'm spreading the word." Read more reviews, good and bad, of Hole Lot of Bagels on Route 35, at New Monmouth Road.

Geeze someone' didn't have their morning coffee when saying such a thing about home lot of bagels. Their bagels are by far the best ones around! I have always had a smile and have never been treated badly. Sounds like someone just doesn't like the competition?

I am not a customer of Hole Lot of Bagels because I simply don't live around that shopping center. However, I was really taken aback by this article. I can't understand why the Patch would not just publish a list of all of the Middletown businesses rated by readers, including 5-star, 4-star, 3-star, 2-star, and 1-star and let readers evaluate the readings and a sampling of comments. To profile only three 5-star businesses and one 1-star business is a very skewed picture. In this economy, featuring a single one-star business in the headline is like giving that business the "kiss of death". Again, I have no special allegiance to Hole Lot Of Bagles, but it just seems that the fairest way to report this would be to include it on a list of all of the rated businesses organized by the number of stars earned.
