Casino Royale LLC is making a bet that a floating casino boat would succeed in the waters off Atlantic Highlands, and the borough could be the winner.

People in Atlantic Highlands are talking about a proposal to dock a three story floating casino boat off Atlantic Highlands that could hold up to 400 passengers.
On July 10, residents packed a Harbor Commission meeting to learn more about a proposal by Casino Royale LLC to berth a 184-foot vessel in the marina to provide gambling and entertainment offshore in Federal waters.
The upside is the potential to create 65 to 100 new jobs, and churn up a new source of revenue such as docking fees for the Harbor Commission, according to a summary of the meeting by the Commission on its website.
But some asked, at what cost? Residents had questions about parking, noise, utility demands, safety and licensing.

As a long as gamblers would have a fair shot at winning, I think it's great. I guess they need to be regulated in a similar fashion to how the Atlantic City casinos are regulated.

Let's keep the money in NJ instead of it going to PA. The big question is WHERE will the revenue go to? Schools are not the answer either. There will also be a limit of 100.00 to 200.00 gambled per hour with a max of 1,000.00 spent in an 8 hour period. This should not premote gambling sickness. Last note, safety nets on the sides so people can't jump over board or get pushed. Rickie J.

I'd like to see more money coming to our area, but I'd hate to see a lot of crime come there....perhaps OK it on a trial basis to see how it goes....

Sounds more like a good thing, than a bad thing. I think AH is the perfect place for such a thing. I doubt any residents would even notice any difference in the peace.
