“In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, we are all reminded of just how committed, how courageous, and how skillful your actions are.” -- These were just a few of the sentiments expressed to the East Keansburg Fire Company, Station 5 and the Middletown First Aid and Rescue Squad on February 12th in an Appreciation Ceremony held by the Ideal Beach Community Association .
IBCA President, Holly Morgan, noted how fortunate the Ideal Beach Community is to have these two amazing first responder groups located right in the neighborhood. She went on to mention how selflessly these two emergency organizations gave of themselves during and after the hurricane in order to take care of those in need.… all while leaving their own families to do so.
In a ceremony following February’s monthly IBCA meeting, representatives from both the East Keansburg Fire Company and the Middletown First Aid and Rescue Squad were on hand. The IBCA was proud to be able to present plaques, letters of appreciation, and donation checks to both organizations and was emphatic to remind guests attending the ceremony that these heroes serve and protect….. ‘on a volunteer basis’.
Accepting on behalf of the East Keansburg Fire Company was firefighter Kyle Bracken, and representing the Middletown First Aid and Rescue Squad were EMS members Steve Santarseri, Dawn Jacobs, Bob Pfleger, and Rob Pfleger. The First Aid Squad provided an ambulance for viewing so that guests could see the inner workings of an emergency vehicle. This was an important opportunity for the IBCA to highlight the great work of the emergency responders in their area and thank them for their dedicated service.
As the IBCA Officers and Trustees can attest, “Our first responders will always have the support of our Association and our community.” Their work is deeply appreciated. They protect us. They protect our loved ones. They protect our coastal way of life.
