Second grade children at the Churches of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in the Highlands and Saint Agnes Church in Atlantic Highlands took time out on a Saturday morning to prepare for their First Reconciliation. Students were treated to a presentation by Rainbow and Mr. T from JMT Productions. The Reconciliation retreat allowed the children to think about Jesus as the Good Shepherd in a creative and engaging way.
“I was very impressed with how engaged the children were in the program” noted catechetical leader Mrs. Melissa Whelan Wisk. The children loved singing songs and watching the puppets. The words were changed from the popular “YMCA” song to remind everyone “Why Not Today” to start being good. The children learned an important lesson about Jesus as a good shepherd who will welcome them back into the flock.
The children will be making their First Reconciliation over the next two Saturdays at their home parish along with children from Mother Teresa Regional School who are members of those parishes. We are praying for these students.
