All schools start with no accreditation and that in no way means that they won't graduate or getRead More accepted to Tier One schools. That's Ridiculous! It's a great location and I wish them huge success.
Truth March 7, 2014 at 01:35 pm
What is totally irrelevant to any argument in opposition to the school is whether or not it is aRead More "catholic school" "accredited" "no track record". That scrutiny is up to the parents who choose to send their daughters there. As far as questioning the competence of the leadership of the school. Mary Sciarrillo from oak knoll? You have got to be joking when you question her qualifications or competence. She is very highly regarded.

since when is a petition in support of (or against) an institution or any cause for that matterRead More relegated to "petition" (JValencia) by virtue of who signed it? I suggest next time you notify the petitioner who they can petition ahead of time. Usually in "America" you can support or object to issues freely. Maybe we should have just let the southern states vote on the Civil Rights Act since many of the issues were in "their backyard" ... will you be surprised if the Gmelichs signed a petition in support of their cause? (my guess: "spoiler alert" they probably signed it. shhh) Best of luck with your ""Investigation"" into a petition. sounds like a great "use of your time"

I hope this is true. It would be nice to have a modern municipal complex with all the townshipRead More facilities in one place.
Crossroads at Croydon Hall

Mr. Scharfenberger details a litany of alleged inaccuracies in this article, yet for some reasonRead More fails to to give the details of where Crossroads will go. Will it be in Lincroft near the elementary school? As for Scharfenberger's proclamation that Trinity School is an institution of the highest moral standards- I think I will leave such assessments to to those more qualified to recognize morality- like the Bishop of Trenton who made it clear in a Patch article that the Diocese wants nothing to do with this school.

@ASimon - Crossroads is in the process of moving to the former branch of the Middletown Library inRead More Lincroft. My source for this article is impeccable and knows the story. I stand behind my source and this post 100%. As for Scharfenberger, it's obvious that what I wrote hit to close to home and his comment was meant to deflect, confuse and discredit what I wrote without pointing out - as you noted - what was inaccurate other than to say that I was not privy to discussion between the Township and Trinity Hall, which was correct. However the person who did passed along the information that was the basis for this post was and I have no reason to doubt him/her. And for Scharfy's information, none of this information came from the Middletown Democrats, it came from concerned township employees and my own personal knowledge of library events!

I'm sure the parents of Lincroft School students will be thrilled to hear that the township movedRead More the drug program near their children's school to keep its patrons away from the young ladies at the private school. I guess that sort of move is indicative of the "high moral standards" of both the township and Trinity School. I had to read Mr. Scharfenberger's post again to remind myself he is the mayor of our township and not a board member at this Trinity school.

The drug problems in our schools is not something new, it has been going on for years and years,Read More there are so many kids hooked on this garbage, one thing I don't understand is why oh why can't they just say NO! Is it peer pressure? How have they been raised to feel that they can do anything they want without consequences! Why isn't there more drug searches done in the schools, will we offend someones privacy? Too bad. If it keeps one kid from getting their hands on these drugs, it's worth it. Crimes are way up because of this problem, it's about time someone takes responsibility, starting at home! I realize people have to work hard these days but who is paying for it? Our kids who are left home alone after school without any supervision, they are lonely, lazy, unmotivated and feeling unloved! they should be encouraged to join sports, try and find part time jobs, volunteer, I always had a bunch of kids at my house, it was place to hang out and have some fun. Open your hearts and your doors to your neighborhood kids and their friends, YOu will never be sorry! Say hello to them when you see them, smile at them they will know someone cares!

Facts can only ruin things for a lib.

My guess would be that there was a reason, a logical one, why this change was made. Do you thinkRead More that there is some illicit or illegal reason? LOL! Or perhaps you believe that Township and School Administration should contact you before they make any major decision to get your input? The people who get paid to make these decisions did, period. Get over yourself...

Hey Patch, in the interest of full disclosure, why don't you call this an opinion piece and not aRead More fact- based article written by a Democrat blogger? This article is so inacurrate, it's an insult to the readers.

Squirrel update: When I woke up this morning I was a bit discouraged, the squirrel in the basementRead More was still scurrying about. When I went back down to the basement a few hours later the squirrel was finally inside of the squirrel trap ready to be transported to a new location far, far away from my home!

It should be fought on principle! I don't live on Chestnut Street but I do live in Middletown. ThatRead More is what we pay taxes for in this town and this town should fight it. If some company tried to pull some crazy bologna on my block, I would hope Middletown would fight to uphold it's zoning laws. Those folks pay taxes in this town just the same as you and I and they deserve the support of our town officials and the zoning laws that they put in place to begin with.If we allow one company to come in and 'bully' the zoning laws by going above Middletowm every time they don't like something, then you can quit calling them laws and start calling them 'suggestions'.

That's what I've been saying about this project since the whole thing started..There is just noRead More room! The piece of property they want to build on is WAY to small for a fast food joint..Considering the size of the building itself and the parking and drive thru area, its just too much..I do not blame the people that live there wanting to fight this to the death,I sure as Hell wouldn't want this backing up into my backyard! And not to mention the mess and the traffic issue it's going to be..
Joe April 8, 2013 at 11:48 pm
Exactly. On What grounds do you sue? Coach was mean to me? Why don't we just abolish all sportsRead More so there will never be the chance that some player will get his feelings hurt? We are turning into a society of sniveling little cry babies.
Joe April 8, 2013 at 11:50 pm
Just making a point that sometimes coaches yell and call names. Until now, it was just part of theRead More game. Now, players are "offended.".
NJarhead April 9, 2013 at 11:23 am
I know Joe, and for the most part I agree. But this guy doesn't deserve your defense. He was way outRead More of line. I have no issues with a coach chewing out my kid as long as it's "coaching."
Grumpy19 April 16, 2013 at 09:19 pm
It's not next to a school. The nearest school is at 36 and Main. It is also an elementary school.Read More What parent in their right mind would allow their elementary school child to walk along 36 to go to White Castle?
Grumpy19 April 16, 2013 at 09:33 pm
This person that continues to post as Joe, is nothing but negative. On another blog he calledRead More someone a liar without vetting what the person has done for people since Sandy. He is not what I would call and acceptable poster.
Mattytas April 17, 2013 at 12:06 pm
Ohhh, so sorry you are upset at people on the internet Grumpy19... :-( sad face...
