Reverend Leaves Historic Church, Kings Highway Roadwork Begins Today in Middletown

Plus, the Monmouth County Fair will kick off tonight with fireworks.

Mostly Sunny Day Ahead

Middletown will get a break from the rain today, according to the National Weather Service. Mostly sunny skies are supposed to break through the clouds with a high of 87 degrees.

Kings Highway Construction Begins Today

Roadwork will close a section of Kings Highway today and tomorrow, according to a township notice. Although the work was slated to begin July 22, Wednesday will mark the first day the section of road will be closed. The work will begin about where Kings Highway meets Route 35, the notice explains. The Middletown Township municipal building located at 1 Kings Highway will remain accessible from Route 35. 

Monmouth County Fair Starts Tonight

Tonight is the first night of the Monmouth County Fair! The fair will run from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and admission is $7 per person. This year's fair features all new rides as well as Opening Night Fireworks.

Save Three Lives

Did you know that donating one pint of blood can save up to three lives? The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Monmouth County, located in Lincroft, will host a blood drive tonight from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Community Room. All donors will be entered into a sweepstakes to win two tickets to the Super Bowl XLVIII. 

Interim Reverend Leaves Historic Middletown Reformed Church

Members of the Middletown Reformed Church bid a bittersweet farewell to Reverend Eltje J. Brunemeyer and his wife Mary as the popular leader delivered his last service as interim minister of the historic 175-year old church, located on Kings Highway in Middletown. Read the full story.
