The Couple Who Sweats Together, Stays Together

Making the choice to be healthier together can make you a better partner...Experience the benefits and feel rush of the endorphins together...

As parents of toddler twins, our nights together (after the kids go to bed) usually consist of putting our feet up and recounting our days with each other. It’s rare that we go out on the town, instead, we make ‘dates’ to go take a CrossFit class or do a workout together.

Try it! Schedule a workout with your honey in your calendars and have someone watch the kids to make it feel more like a date. That time you share (uninterrupted) will give you physical and emotional benefits. A recent article in the huffington post says that when a couple works out together, “both partners come away with feelings of synchronicity, cooperative spirit and shared passion. Then you throw in some spicy endorphins and it can be a real power trip for the relationship”.  Studies show that individuals who exercise with their partners are more likely to stick to their workout regime better as well.

Making the choice to be healthier together can make you a better partner and parent giving you more energy and enthusiasm throughout your day. (I know I need all the energy I can get to chase around two screaming kids –running in opposite directions- yelling, ‘tickle me, tickle me tickle me!’) That added energy – not to mention an improved body image – often leads to more energy…at night, too.

Being fit with your loved one and overcoming obstacles to reach your goals is empowering to experience together. Accomplishing these goals can give you that sense of self-worth that carries over into the relationship. Experience the benefits and feel rush of the endorphins together…an improved mood, decreased stress, increased intimacy and a higher confidence.

Happy Valentines Day...now go sweat!

And don’t forget to check out the free Cupid CrossFit class at Lululemon this Saturday.
