Middletown High School South Big Winners at Music Festival

The Middletown High School South bands and choir competed in Hershey, Pennsylvania at the Music in the Parks festival this weekend and came home with five trophies and one individual award.

The Screaming Eagle Marching Band received a superior award and scored higher than every other ensemble in the entire competition.

The Middletown South concert band received an excellent award and won the high school concert band competition. Additionally, they won the award for the best overall concert band.

The Southern Express Jazz Band received an excellent award and came in second place for the high school jazz band competition.

The Middletown South choir also took home an excellent award and won first in the high school choir competition. Returning member Michael Hopkins, 17, of Middletown won an individual award for best vocal soloist in their traditional Zambian piece, “Bonse Aba.”

 The Middletown High School South bands and choir hope to continue their success in future competitions.
