The Community YMCA to Host Open House July 25 for New Bayshore Family Success Center in Union Beach

The Community YMCA invites community organizations and local families to learn more about the newly opened Bayshore Family Success Center at an open house on Thursday, July 25, at the Union Beach Memorial Public Library, 810 Union Ave, Union Beach.

Funded by the Department of Children and Families (DCF), the Bayshore Family Success Center, is designed to serve local families in need of support services. Over the past few months, the center has been preparing to aid families in areas such as family empowerment, life skills training, advocacy, and parent-child activities.

As one of the state’s network of Family Success Centers, the Bayshore center will function as a “one-stop shop” for families to receive support and assistance. Families will be able to gather at the center to receive free resources and support before they find themselves in crisis, said Rhonda Anderson, President  & CEO of The Community YMCA.

“As an organization dedicated to strengthening the community, we are pleased to provide all families here in Union Beach and the Bayshore area support services, especially those who are recovering from Superstorm Sandy. We look forward to helping families connect to support services that will help them build stronger bonds,” Anderson said.

The center also looks forward to having community volunteers provide information to families and referral services regarding parent education, job and employment, publicly-funded health insurance programs, housing, and more.

The open house will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Y staff will be available to speak with community agencies and families interested in the services offered at the center. Remarks will take place at noon followed by refreshments.
