Creative Writing Group

When & where: Thursday, April 21 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Monmouth County Library Headquarters in Manalapan.

Why you should go: The Monmouth Creative Writing Group is a five-year-old organization that welcomes all writers from novices to seasoned professionals. The group meets twice a month. Stop by and find out what the organization is all about.

Wool & Sheep Shearing

When & where: Saturday, April 23 and Sunday, April 24 from noon to 3 p.m. at Longstreet Farm in Holmdel

Why you should go: The staff at the Holmes Hendrickson House will conduct their annual sheep shearing demonstration and show how wool was used in Colonial America. There will also be wagon rides at the site.

What it will cost: Free

WOODBRIDGE ELKS FLEA MARKET

When & where: Saturday, April 23 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Woodbridge Elks Lodge, 665 Rahway Ave.

Why you should go: You’ve finished your spring cleaning, and you’re looking to unload some unneeded items. Bring them to the weekly flea market to sell. If you’re looking for some hidden treasure, the market is a great chance to find toys, clothing, books and more.

What it will cost: Anyone looking to sell should arrive at 6:30 a.m. Car spaces cost $14 each. Those looking to browse can attend for free.
