'Mapping Shipwrecks' at Middletown Historical Society

Dan Lieb of the New Jersey Historic Divers Association is the featured speaker at the March 18 meeting of the Middletown Township Historical Society at 7:30 PM at the MacLeod-Rice House at Croydon Hall, 900 Leonardville Road, Leonardo.

Lieb will give his talk titled "Mapping Shipwrecks."

Knowledge of shipwrecks has long been of vital interest to mariners as collisions with wrecks was a cause of additional wrecks.

Lieb's advertures as a historic diver enables him to discuss how shipwrecks can be illustrated using diver descriptions, photography, videos and direct measurements taken at the sites.

While water clarity off the coast can vary, drawings and illustrations of shipwrecks give the viewer a complete view of the wreck site end to end. Lieb will offer new insights into history mysteries of the deep.
