Middletown Summer Concert Series Comes to a Close

RB Express wrapped up the concert series with a doo-wop show last night at Croydon Hall.

About 75 attendees sat in lawn chairs and watched as a five singers dressed in khakis and white, button-down tees covered songs from bands that premiered in the 40's, 50's and 60's.

Attracting a demographic of older adults and families with young children, RB Express brought the Middletown Summer Series to a close at Croydon Hall. In prior weeks, R&B groups and an acoustic act took to the mobile stage set up in the lawns near the baseball fields during the Concert series.

Singing Little Darlin’ and So Much in Love, the doo-wop group featured local vocal talent including Ernie Lackey (bass), Mike DelFranco (first tenor), Rick Davis (lead vocals), Pat Moschetto (baritone) and Ray Block (second tenor).

Most of the crowd sat, cheering from the seats or talking amongst themselves while the group performed. Only one couple decided to dance in the paved pathway leading down Croydon Hall, taking quick sitting breaks in between songs.

Three Middletown Police Department patrol vehicles sat on the sides of the pathway directing people to follow the path and two additional police vehicles were also parked within close distance to the concert.

The Middletown Township Education Association (MTEA) sponsored this year’s series, which provided four free outdoor concerts throughout the summer season.
