Mysterious Middletown Sightings Tour

It's a road less traveled and filled with mystery, intrigue and many tales of the past.

This week's Mysterious Sightings Tour takes you to dirt road in one of the most notoriously haunting wooded areas of the township.

The location alone lends itself to a mysterious aura, but it has seen its share of fascinating, sometimes frightening history. A lot of lore and the ghastly, ghostly characters pepper the history of this winding road traveled by thrill seekers.

There have been supposed sightings and hauntings of witches burned at the stake, dead farmers who were the subject of the witches' curse, a dancing Jesus (a bit off the road in a nearby cemetery), a tree shaped like a person trying to run from a scene, a truck that stops cars in their tracks and holds travelers captive and much more.

Then there's the history. A young girl named Nancy Clark, of Fair Haven, was murdered in Highlands on March 6, 1982. Her body was eventually found on the side of this eerily barren road.

The body of a employee, Fred Lazzati, was found on the road in September of 1989.
