Report: Canadian Goose Nest Removed From Parking Lot

A Middletown resident was dismayed to see the nest destroyed.

A Middetown resident was shocked to find a nest belonging to a Canadian Goose was destroyed in the Value City parking Lot on Route 35, she said in an article posted on APP.com.

Dawn Samhammer had grown found of seeing the goose she called "Gertrude" return every year. But Monmouth County SPCA Police Chief Victor “Buddy” Amato said a joint investigation with the state’s Division of Fish and Wildlife indicated that Value City acted within the law when it removed the nest from a planter.
