Frugal fun for the family in Monmouth County

Sing, Dance, Play and Prance
  • Middletown Arts Center, 36 Church Street, Middletown

Miss Sherri Ehrlich and Honey Music Academy have introduced hundreds of children to the joys of music, movement and creativity for over 15 years. Ehrlich is leading summer camps at the Middletown Arts Center (MAC).

From July 27 to Aug. 8, children ages three to six can take part in "Sing, Dance, Play and Prance." The sessions are held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The camp is filled with rhythm activities, creative movement activities and games. Kids will sing songs and play musc from around the world.

The cost is $175 for MAC members and $190 for non-members.

Enjoy extended shopping hours and special promotions at stores in downtown Red Bank after 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Barnes & Noble Chess
  • Monmouth Mall, 180 Route 35, Eatontown

Have a chess lover in your family? The Barnes & Noble Chess Club will meet Wednesday, July 20, and every other Wednesday, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Monmouth Mall Barnes & Noble cafe. All experience levels are welcome. Boards will be provided, but you may bring your own.

Movies in the Park
  • Sycamore Recreation Complex, 977 Sycamore Ave., Tinton Falls

Drive ins may be a thing of the past, but that doesn't mean outdoor movies have to be. Enjoy a free showing of Field of Dreams on Friday, July 22 at 8:45 p.m. at the Sycamore Recreation Complex. A donation of a food item for a local pantry or food bank is requested.
