The Season Is Here: Where to Get Flu Shots in Middletown

Here's where to get an influenza vaccine, how to recognize symptoms and what to know about treatment if you get sick.

Flu season is coming early in parts of the United States: This time last year, flu cases were lower in central Jersey than they are now, according to data on Google's Flu Trends. (Middletown-specific data is not available on Flu Trends.)

Overall in New Jersey, activity is considered moderate now, while it was considered low at this time in 2011, according to Flu Trends.

If you're considering getting a flu shot, here are some places in Holmdel and Hazlet that offer the vaccine (besides your own doctor, of course):

Rite Aid with locations in Lincroft, Port Monmouth and Belford and Route 35.

According to this week's CDC Flu activity report, influenza levels are on the increase across the country.

Five states – Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee – are reporting flu rates not normally seen until January, according to the Centers for Disease Control. The flu season normally peaks in January and February.

Holiday travel and more time spent indoors due to soggy weather will contribute to the spread of the flu virus, so now is the time to get vaccinated.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention offers the following information:

Oh, I am so glad to see that you are preserving history. My husband & I visited your town aRead More couple of weeks ago. My 9th Great Grandfather Thomas Whitlock is buried in the Old First Baptist Church yard. I was honored to stand on the porch of the home he helped build and lived in at Shoal Harbor. The name has changed to the Wilson-Seabrook House and now the Bayshore Activities Center. Wow! Too bad all the museum pieces were removed. I would love to have seen them. Maybe next trip I can see where the items moved to and help with some clean up. I would be glad to help. Ancestor of Middletown... Diana (Whitlock) Moa Broken Arrow, OK
