The Week Ahead in Middletown: Veterans' Job Fair, Tree Seedlings Giveaway, Plant Swap

Highlights of some of the events in Middletown Township, NJ for the week of April 21.

Monday, April 22

6pm: Science Monday at Warner Student Center at Brookdale: Sierra Club's Jeff Tittel will explain "how development interests are continuing to elevate profits over safety in rebuilding our coastal communities." Free.

10 a.m.: Hiring our Heroes' Veterans Job Fair at VFW Post 2179 in Middletown. Organized by the Middletown Veterans Affairs Committee. Free. Interested employers and veterans can register for the event at hoh.greatjob.net. A resume writing class for veterans will be held in advance of the event at 8:30 am. Also at the job fair will be a Mobile Health Outreach Unit from the US Department of Veterans Affairs that will provide basic health screenings as well as representatives from the Monmouth County Veterans Service office who will assist veterans with benefits and claims information.

Thursday, April 25

4 p.m.: Ciao Bambini! Italian story time @ MTPL

7:30 p.m. John Muir "In the New World" Documentary Screening Atlantic Cinema 5, 82 1st Ave, Atlantic Highlands. Followed by discussion with filmmakers. Sponsored by the Monmouth Counservation Foundation. Tickets $45; Students, $10. 

 

Friday, April 26

11 a.m. - 1 p.m.:  Free Tree Seedlings (Buttonbush) Giveaway at Arbor Day Event, Thompson Park Visitors Center. Sponsored by JCP&L. At least 500 seedlings will be available, with a limit of one per household. Presentation by Master Gardener Joel Whitman.

 

Saturday, April 27

8 a.m., North Cheerleaders Character Breakfast at Applebees Neighborhood Grill & Bar. ($10)

9 a.m.: COA's 28th Annual Beach Sweeps, 60 sites along the shore.

9:30 a.m. The Community YMCA Holds Family Activities for Healthy Kids Day

10 a.m.: Great Spring Perennial Plant Swap, Deep Cut Gardens

10 a.m.: Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, Middletown Township Police Station

noon: Earth Day Celebration in Keansburg at the Center for Community Renewal
