Using Their Imagination, Middletown Brothers Raise $500 for Charity

Two Middletown boys who mounted a miniature display called "A Jersey Shore Christmas 2013" in their garage raised $500 for Middletown Helps Its Own by accepting donations of appreciation. 

Matt Glynn, 10, of Nut Swamp School and James Glynn, 13, of Thompson Middle School worked diligently to present their vision of a better re-built shore area. Their finished work took up half the garage. It had 40 lighted buildings and close to 200 trees. 

The boys printed up 200 flyers and went door-to-door, handing them out to neighbors, and to fellow soccer players. Matt sent personal invitations to global Argentine soccer great Lionel Messi, as well as Gov. Chris Christie. The governor's office called to thank him for the invitation, but declined due to schedule conflicts. 

Over 150 friends and neighbors came to admire the detailed work during the two night event.  

According to their father Jimmy Glynn, a lot of hot chocolate flowed, many cookies and pasteries were eaten, and the re-imagined miniature Jersey Shore made people smile.
