Where Are the Worst Potholes in Middletown?

Which roads in the area bore the brunt of the harsh winter?

By Tom Davis

It's been a rough winter, no one's questioning that.

From snow days at school to salt shortages throughout the state, towns have had to deal with the inclement weather on a daily basis, Middletown included.

Middletown takes pothole repair requests through its online service request form.

With the heavy snow and ice accumulations over the past couple of months, roads may have suffered the most, as small cracks in the pavement a few weeks ago have become tire-busting craters nearly impossible to avoid.

Each town has its share of notoriously bad potholes drivers try to avoid for fear of a blowout, or even worse.

Which roads have the worst potholes in Middletown? Let us know in the comments.

Horrible potholes everywhere on rt 35. Really bad one as your making a left at the light turning onto 35 from hs north in the left lane. I try to dodge them as much as a I can if I get a ticket for swerving or a flat from them I will not be the one paying my ticket.

Not sure if they're the worst in town, but Wilson Ave is pretty bad.

Wilson Avenue!!! It needs to be completely repaved, not just fill in the holes!

Last year, the Middletown portion of Murphy Road had been paved, while the Port Monmouth portion neglected. As a result of the snowstorms, the unpaved portion is now even worse, making the drive and turns onto Main Street a challenge. The sections by Thorne Middle School make the drop off and pick up procedure that much worse.

First ave is looking pretty shabby, there is one right at the end of my driveway but 5 more prior to it. Then going off Portland heading onto Leonardville right at the stop sign is horrendous. Main st Belford by HWY 36 I had to swerve my car from a huge pothole heading away from the junction.

Funny, I noticed they put up a sign on Wilson that reads: "Caution, rough road."
