The String Studio of Monmouth County brings chamber music concert to Lincroft

Reverse commute for NYC Classical Musicians

Lincroft, New Jersey May 19, 2012 – Classical violist Kimberly Foster Wallace is joined by celebrated pianist David Oei for an evening of music featuring the works of composers Brahms, Hummel, and Britten at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Lincroft on May 19 at 6:00 PM.  This marks the first public Monmouth County performance by the duo, each of whom regularly appear in NYC venues including Carnegie Hall.

“I’m excited to be able to bring top-tier classical music performance to my own community”, said Foster Wallace, who is a resident of Oceanport and founder of the String Studio of Monmouth County, as well as a performance artist.  “One of the ways I want to contribute to the local arts scene is by providing accessible, educational concert experiences that entire families can enjoy.  I work with many outstanding artists from New York City’s finest concert halls and it’s a real pleasure to bring them here, and to enrich our community through local performances.”

Foster Wallace, who studied at Yale, is a soloist and frequent guest artist of New York’s preeminent chamber ensembles.  She has appeared with the American and Elysium Chamber Ensembles, and most recently with the Alaria Chamber Ensemble at Carnegie Hall, and has recorded with the Albany Symphony Orchestra.  Pianist David Oei has performed with the New York Philharmonic, and Pittsburgh, and Baltimore Symphonies.  He has made guest appearances with the St. Luke's and Orpheus Chamber Ensembles and the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. The two perform together frequently.

“Chamber music has a special social – even intimate – collaborative element that lends itself to connecting with people.  There are great things going on locally in the arts,”  said Foster Wallace, “and classical music needs to continue to be a part of that vibrant growth.  There’s no reason why we should not enjoy world class music and artists right here.”
