Guardians of Rescue Heads Back to America’s Most Dangerous City: Camden, NJ -- Sponsoring New Jersey Aid for Animals Vaccinating and Microchipping Animals
Guardians of Rescue is sponsoring the New Jersey Aid for Animals on April 6 at 1137 Federal Street in Camden City, 9 am – 12pm where they are offering a vaccine for $1 and free microchipping.
Camden, New Jersey is known for being the most dangerous city in America, and it is here that Guardians of Rescue aims at having a positive influence on the city by helping animals in need. Guardians of Rescue is sponsoring the New Jersey Aid for Animals this weekend, April 6, 2013, at 1137 Federal Street in Camden City from 9 am – 12 noon where vet and vet technicians will be offering a lifesaving vaccine for only $1.00 and free microchipping.

New Jersey Aid for Animals is launching “Lost No More,” a new microchip program sponsored by Guardians of Rescue. The free microchip, (available while supplies last,) will help animal control identify and charge the owners that abandon and dump their pets. Owners that buy dogs as bait, dog-fighting or weapons can be identified and charged. Microchips assist in reuniting lost and runaway dogs and cats with their owners. Animal control is able to scan microchips when lost pets are found and return them to their owner quickly, allowing more space at animal shelters and preventing more animals from being euthanized.

“We must find a way to stop the influx of dogs being euthanized. Even if these chips only reunite a small percentage of dogs with their owners over a year, that means less dogs being put to sleep. We are happy to be a part of the Camden experience,” said Robert Misseri, President of Guardians of Rescue.
The average cost of a microchip rates between $25-$50; according to the United States Census Bureau, 11.8% of residents were reported with income below the poverty level in 2011. The free microchip allows pet owners to have the security of tracking their pet and allows animal control to identify and charge owners who abuse and neglect their pets.
Guardians of Rescue have a number of programs they plan to implement to help the Camden community, including working with the homeless population in order to create a barter system that will help with animal rescue efforts. With this program, homeless people will be given meals and other assistance in exchange for their help in caring for the stray animals.
