The popular coffee chain is using beetles to color its strawberry frappuccinos.

News 12 NJ reports calories may not be the only thing Starbucks patrons should be worrying about. The company recently began using beetles found in South Africa and Mexico to color its strawberry frappuccinos.

According to the article, "The ingredient is used in many other food products and is FDA approved."

Think of it this way: get anything with the strawberry puree and you don't have to pay extra to add protein.

Recently switched the purée and now they use lycopene to color not beetles! I wonder how many other things people eat that have some form of "bug" in it but they don't make a big deal about it..... But it is Starbucks so I understand the fascination
