Twist frozen yogurt offers not only frozen dairy desserts but also fresh baked toppings from J&M Bakery.

A new frozen yogurt shop has opened in Middletown and this one has a ‘Twist’.

Twist opened its doors last week offering customers not only frozen yogurt with brownies and cookie toppings supplied by J&M Bakery, candy and frozen treats.

The shop decorated in bright colors offers fresh waffle cones, 15 different yogurt flavors and 40 toppings.

The duo behind the Twist creation is Stacey Albert and her husband, Edward, thought of the idea after Edward, a trainer and gym owner, found this dietary frozen yogurt known as only 8.

The special dietary yogurt has, as the name suggests, eight ingredients including water, fructose, whey, whey protein concentrate, maltodextrin, natural flavoring stabilizers, calcium and active yogurt cultures. The yogurt is lactose-free.

The two thought the yogurt needed a storefront where they could sell this yogurt as well as other yogurt flavors in a self-serve format.

What makes this yogurt shop unique is the partnership with J&M bakery, said Stacey Albert.

“J&M has been serving the community for years,” Albert said. “We thought it would be a great idea to start this partnership.”

From fresh made brownies to cannoli pieces and icebox cookies, customers can top their yogurt with a mixture of all.

The frozen yogurt costs $0.49lb but there are multiple opportunities to save.

There is a 15 percent off discount for law enforcement is also available for active and retired military personnel, firefighters, EMS and teachers with their ID.

Yogurt happy hour is 2:30p.m. to 3:30p.m. Monday through Friday with a 30 percent discount off frozen yogurt.

Twist will be having their official grand opening August 11.

“We will have face painting for kids, a $1.00 power hour (all you can eat for $1.00), Twist tattoos for kids and more details will be published on our Facebook page,” Albert said.

Twist is open Monday through Sunday at 1092 Highway 35 South. For more information, call (732) 533-5584.
