We need a Walmart somewhere in Middletown.

There used to be a Card Smart in the portion of the center closer to Stop and Shop. I miss it because it had greeting cards and gift wrap for 50% off every day. Since it closed, i have to go to the Shrewsbury Marshall's / Panera shopping center for a similar discount greeting card store. I would like to see Card Smart re-open in the old Bradlees shopping center in Middletown.

We don't need a Walmart. It detracts from other businesses and would create an outrageous traffic problem. If a Walmart is to be built, put it in Hazlet on 36 where the old Bradley's/Foodtown was. It's bigger and out of our town's hair. I'm thinking something smaller like a bakery.

We certainly do not need a walmart. it will create traffic nightmare. I think a card store is needed in the area

No Walmart in Middletown. That's why the town bought the Swim club, to keep out big box stores like Walmart.

I think a card/gift shop would be nice. There hasn't been a a nice gift store in Middletown since Zaslow's went out of business. Walmart?? Let's hope not.

No, we don't. Middletown is too good for that piece of crap conglomeration.

Card stores don't seem to do very well though. The one by TRUs in hazlet closed, then the one over by Kohls holmdel did too. There is one already by Best Buy , but it doesnt seem to be doing well.

Everyone bad mouths a Walmart and says it degrades the town and housing values, and it has crime, and all those bad things that come to a lower income town. Does anybody ever go to the Walmart in freehold? they just did a major upgrade, i would think that means they are doing pretty good, and i would not mind living in free hold as well. I am for a small business, but lets get real, we all want and need cheaper prices.. and it gives or youth a place to work and learn proper ethics. Walmarts are usually in a lower income area first, because it helps keep prices cheaper.. but who has not gone to one, and said, WOW! but now they are expending their services to larger communities, why do you all think it is bad, that is ignorance.

Oh, and this place is too small by far for a walmart.. it is a small spot in the strip.
MEEE May 19, 2012 at 02:05 am
why not the white castle go here? since it is not near any homes like on 36 they tried to get into.. small enough for a fast food, and gives some competion to five guys. keeps prices low.

I would love to have a fresh fish store selling local catch.

So everyone who hates the traffic, should we close Sandy hook? that is the worst traffic!! What is wrong with people wanting a successful business and helps the pocket books of ppl in the town. i hate having to drive forty minutes to get to a walmart. target just sucks, and is too high priced, the food area sucks, and lets get real, best buy will close soon too, too many employees just wandering the aisles, and no one has a clue what is going on. With gas prices so high, why would you not a one stop shop for almost everything! walmart is the Sam's club store, and we all know everyone loves costco.
MEEE May 21, 2012 at 02:39 am
Walmart carries cards... why not have a one stop store?? save gas money and time, and money when purchasing many things... give it up on the traffic nightmare.. it will happen, might as well happen for savings..

Oh, I am so glad to see that you are preserving history. My husband & I visited your town aRead More couple of weeks ago. My 9th Great Grandfather Thomas Whitlock is buried in the Old First Baptist Church yard. I was honored to stand on the porch of the home he helped build and lived in at Shoal Harbor.
