Pallone Announces More than $1.8 Million to Piscataway for Sandy Cleanup
Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced $1,833,597 in federal funding to reimburse the Township of Piscataway for the cleanup and management of debris as a result of Superstorm Sandy.
LONG BRANCH, NJ—Today, Congressman Frank Pallone, Jr. (NJ-06) announced $1,833,597 in federal funding to reimburse the Township of Piscataway for the cleanup and management of debris as a result of Superstorm Sandy. The funding will also provide for the permanent disposal of the debris, and for tree, stump, and hazardous limb removal.
“Piscataway was hit with such severe winds during Superstorm Sandy that many parts were unrecognizable and unsafe the next day, forcing residents and township employees to work tirelessly to remove the trees, branches, and other debris. This funding provided by FEMA makes sure that the township won’t have to unfairly bear the entire cost of the emergency cleanup,” said Pallone.
Superstorm Sandy was declared a major disaster for New Jersey in October of 2012, and Congressman Pallone was a strong advocate for a robust relief package to help the victims of the historic storm.
