Fair Haven Scene After Sandy's Wrath

Hurricane Sandy's effects downed trees, wires and a wiped out a good portion of the Fair Haven Dock

Fair Haven -- "Woah! That's not supposed to be there. Wait. Something's missing over there," a kid could be overheard saying to his dad as they checked out the storm damage done to the Fair Haven Dock.

Bricks are scattered on the street near the dock, trash receptacles are toppled and rolling on the road and police tape is cordoning off the place where the entrance to the dock once was before Sandy struck. The portion of the relatively new dock that connects the foot of Fair Haven Road to the dock and gazebo that sit off the banks of the Navesink River is now gone.

It's one of Sandy's casualties. Chainsaws were buzzing away all day today and people ventured out from their homes to assess damage. Most do not have electricity and the scene is a relatively quiet, but the general assessment, by the looks of things, is that all escaped harm.
