Police Chase Ends with K-9 Unit Scouring Thompson Park

Garrett Cuddey was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly eluding police.

You can't hide from police K-9 dogs, even in the woods of Thompson Park.

A police chase ended on Wednesday night with a Seaside Park man in handcuffs after he allegedly led police on a chase through Monmouth County.

Colts Neck police answered a call for a suspicious person at Route 34 and Route 537 at 10:26 p.m. Police said a verbal argument between Garrett Cuddey and an officer occurred and Cuddey took off in his car.

Cuddey, 19, led officers on a chase along Route 537, according to police. The chase was eventually called off by a supervising officer because of concerns for public safety.

Police said Cuddey's car was found abandoned in the park shortly after the pursuit.

Tinton Falls K-9 Unit responded to the scene and tracked Cuddey through the woods. He was taken into custody around 11:30 p.m. Police said he was transferred to the Monmouth County jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.

Cuddey is charged with eluding and disorderly conduct.

Tinton Falls, Middletown and Brookdale police assisted in the search and arrest.
