New Jersey Election 2013: Incumbent Republicans Sweep 13th District

Kyrillos, Handlin and O'Scanlon easily win re-election.

Republican incumbent state Sen. Joseph Kyrillos, Assemblywoman Amy Handlin and Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon won re-election in the 13th District.

Kyrillos, a Middletown resident, bested Democratic state Senate candidate Joseph Marques of Hazlet 40,479 votes to 18,162, according to unofficial election results from the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office with all but two districts reporting. Independent MacDara Lyden of Middletown received 765 votes.

In the Assembly race, Handlin of Lincroft came out on top with 38,554 ballots, followed by O’Scanlon, a Little Silver resident, with 37,355. Democratic candidate and Middletown resident Matthew Morehead had 18,711 tallies and running mate Allison Friedman of Aberdeen had 19,467.

The 13th District is comprised of Aberdeen, Atlantic Highlands, Fair Haven, Hazlet, Highlands, Holmdel, Keansburg, Keyport, Little Silver, Marlboro, Middletown, Monmouth Beach, Oceanport, Rumson, Sea Bright and Union Beach.
