A lecture on Japan’s biological and chemical warfare program
in China during the 1930s and 1940s. In addition, a museum exhibit of 50 panels will be on display from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Li Zongyuan, vice curator of the Museum of the War of Chinese People’s Resistance against
Japanese Aggression, Beijing, China, will give a
presentation entitled “Japanese Imperial Army’s Germ and Chemical Warfare in
China: Guilt and Responsibility.”
Also speaking will be Daniel Barenblatt,
author of the book “A Plague upon Humanity,” which details the human experiments
on Chinese men, women, and children in Imperial Japan’s attempt to develop germ
warfare.
Barenblatt will talk about Unit 731, the world’s largest research
center and factory of weapons of mass destruction, explain why its leaders were
never prosecuted, and discuss the significance of this issue today in terms of
world stability and peace.
