Comprehending Non-Fiction Text – Science and Social Studies Camp, July 14-18

One of the most important skills students learn as they transition
into middle and high school is how to get information from a non-fiction text.
This skill can be especially challenging some students who may not have had
much experience working independently with expository texts. In this program we
will help develop the specific skills necessary for students to learn from
non-fiction text. Engaging in group discussion and working with historical
documents, biographies and true stories, this class will prepare students for
success in middle and high school now that the Common Core standards have
required non-fiction to be an integral part of your child’s curriculum.
