The Governor's NJ SAFE Task Force -- established on January 17, 2013 to study and make recommendations on the intersection of gun control, addiction, mental health, and school safety in New Jersey -- seeks public input and will hold three public hearings on these important issues.  To allow input from as many members of the public as possible, the Task Force will hold hearings in the northern, central, and southern parts of New Jersey.

The hearings are open to the public.  Members of the public will be given an opportunity to provide a brief statement on the issues of gun control, addiction, mental health, and school security. The focus of the comments should be on the mission of the Task Force -- to understand how we, as a State, can better address and prevent acts of violence in our society. Because of time constraints, and in the interest of ensuring that all who wish to make a statement have a chance to do so, the Task Force asks that comments be limited to three minutes.

Members of the public who cannot attend the hearings but wish to contribute to the work of the Task Force may do so by providing written submissions to the following email address:

NJ-SAFETaskForce@njdcj.org.
