Impact OASIS attending New Year’s Day 2013 Polar Bear Plunge in Asbury Park

Supporting the work at Impact OASIS is a great way to start the New Year! The Polar Bear Plunge is organized by The Sons of Ireland, a non-profit association dedicated to the principles of brotherhood, charity and community service. Impact OASIS Trail Center is the first transitional farmstead model in New Jersey. Practical living and vocational skills are being taught to full time residents and day students. These 22-27 year olds are learning organic gardening and horticulture, how to plan and cook meals, bake pizza and bread in a brick oven and manage finances. An experienced staff teaches each student how to successfully live on their own.

Plunger check in begins at 10:00am. The bagpipe to the beach will commence at 12:45 pm. The National Anthem will be played and plungers will walk towards the ocean to go in at 1 pm. The post-plunge party is from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. We welcome and encourage all participants and spectators. There will be Plunge merchandise, food and music by Kimon and the Prophets, Brian Kirk and The Jirks, plus The Nerds.
