“The JDMF Annual 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament is an occasion when we can gather as family, friends and community to celebrate a sport that gave my son Jay so much joy," said Foundation President Jerry Dooley. "We look forward to the tournament every year. Funds raised at the event help families in need of critical mental and medical health services for their children. We seek to be a community resource for these families and honor Jay's memory through the JDMF's mission."

Jay Dooley attended Forrestdale School and Holy Cross School in Rumson where he developed his athletic abilities and his love of the game of basketball. He played three years on the varsity basketball team at Rumson-Fair Haven High School where he scored over 1,000 points. After graduating from RFH, Dooley accepted a full basketball scholarship to Monmouth University where he was a member of the 2001 Hawks team that played Duke University in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

About the Jay Dooley Memorial Foundation (JDMF)

The Jay Dooley Memorial Foundation (JDMF) is a 501(C)(3) public charity and family foundation dedicated  to the memory of Jay Dooley and the special needs of adolescents within our community. The foundation's mission is being carried out by a large number of Jay's family and friends.

The JDMF is deeply committed to assisting children who may have a learning disability or suffer from depression by assisting their families, educators and schools. The JDMF addresses the lack of critical mental and medical health services for families in need and eases the economic burden associated with these services. JDMF provides financial assistance so families can access proper medical diagnosis and treatment for their special needs children. In addition, JDMF funds programs to educate both parents and teachers about the special needs of their children/students.
